An “unsocial” and dysfunctional kitchen needed to lose its “tunnel” feeling. The challenge was to create a connection to the rest of the house. The wall between the dining room and kitchen was opened up and connected both spaces. Various preparation areas were created and through the selection of different wood species we created a surprising and warm look. A 2 tone countertop creates a different flow and abandons the alley kitchen feeling. The dark brown wave, which starts at the peninsula, picks up on the opposite side of the kitchen and continues a pattern throughout the remainder of the countertop, adding a dynamic touch.
