This is the first LEED House completed in Los Gatos. The family wanted to build a healthy home with understated elegance, comfortable and enjoyable for children and adults alike. The design thus aimed at connecting indoor and outdoor spaces, visually and functionally, with a contemporary feel, featuring clean and pleasing lines, sustainable materials, and green building practices. The interior was conceived around social areas with private rooms to work or retreat, all allowing the integration of decorative elements and avoiding strong statements.

Contemporary informal kitchen
This kitchen blends a seating nook with spacious and highly functional working areas for social gatherings. The custom table holds a hidden recessed induction cook top for hot pot dinners. The vent hood is veneered in Sapele to take attention away from the stainless steel.
Kitchen's invisible purpose: functionality
This kitchen combines highly functional working areas with numerous storage spaces that are hidden to the casual visitor. The pantry, small appliances, and multiple pullout tables are hidden behind flat panel doors. All wood cabinetry is FSC certified (i.e. made out of sustainable resources). Species used include Walnut, Wenge, Sapele, Cherry, Maple, Bamboo, and Kirei. They offer a sense of harmony through their warm colors and grain patterns.
Living room
The design challenge was to create a connection between the fireplace and the built-in section that stores the TV and audio equipment. The stonework and concrete hearth of the fireplace connect with the finishes of the cabinetry. The interplay of warm materials and contemporary lines achieve an eye catching and timeless design.
Master bathroom
A layered lighting produces a warm atmosphere that outlines a unique ambience. The simplicity of the design and choice of earthy tones results in a spa like atmosphere. Custom flat panel Wenge cabinetry,-designed with dual counter heights-, stores towels, trash cans, and toiletries and opens with a touch latch mechanism. Result: a clean look.
