This project’s objective was to create as much storage space, seating, and preparation area for this small kitchen. Small rooms were merged and redesigned without losing the connection to the house. Incredible care was taken to preserve a 1940’s stove and integrate the older elements into the design. For example, the upper cabinetry with lead windows, antique stools, repurposed vented pantry cabinet, and a pocket door with reed glass. The hard flooring, which was discovered under two layers of linoleum, was refinished. Retro lighting, combined with modern lighting, ties in beautifully with the overall feeling of this kitchen.
